Overview
This once-in-a-lifetime safari operates in a 35,000ha area with varying terrain from rivers and gullies to rock formations and look-out points. The beautiful Drakensberg escarpments surround this stunning area and on one night you'll even sleep out under the stars on the top of Beacon Rock, with stunning views and sundowner drinks. This is one of the few places in the world you can see wildlife in its natural environment from the back of a horse in an area that is brimming with life, diversity and so much more.
The trip is run all year round, starting on Saturdays, and requires a decent level of riding experience due to the fast-paced, exhilarating riding which will take you in search of the Big Five. The so-called Big 5 include Elephants, Rhinos, Lions, Leopards and the infamous Cape buffalo. Also look forward to an adventure spent in luxury, as our accommodation in both lodges and campsites have been hand picked to make sure you have the most comfortable experience possible. Why not book today and have an adventure of a lifetime? We're ready when you are.

Itinerary
DAY 1
Arrival Day
You'll be picked up preferably at Hoedspruit or possibly Phalaborwa airport by our transfer service or by your own arrangement. A pick up from Johannesburg OR TAMBO can also be arranged, note that travelling time from Johannesburg is 5 hours.
On arrival at Wait A Little, afternoon tea and coffee awaits you at the famous bar area with a spectacular view over the Makuthswe River covered by old Jackal-berry trees. The Wait A Little team is there to welcome you. Gerti or Susie will introduce you to the safety procedures before going on your first riding safari.
This orientation ride takes you through the area surrounding the camp as you unwind from your journey and forget yourself in the peace of the African bush. This is your chance to become accustomed to our horses and riding style. We might even see the first giraffes or zebras or whatever else is in the vicinity.
Sundowners, looking out towards the Drakensberg Mountains, are a perfect prelude to the generous 3-course dinner accompanied by hand-picked South African wines, which awaits you in the dining area, furnished with modern and antique African art. The first night, with all its fantastic sounds and noises, is probably the most exciting one. Accommodation for the first three nights is in modern, thatched canvas camps with ensuite bathrooms, equipped with an outside shower and a lookout bath, mounted on platforms above the Makhutswe River at the Wait A Little main camp. From here, wildlife determines our daily activities, so this is a guide and not a guarantee. Meals included: dinner

About the location
Against the backdrop of the Drakensberg mountains, Wait A Little Horse Safaris rides
over an area of 35 000 ha (75 000 acres) prime African bushveld on the Karongwe Private Game Reserve and the Greater Makalali Private Game Reserve. The reserves have various ecosystems ranging from thick bush to open plains, woodlands, hills and koppies, to riverines and gullies. Our river systems are extensive and are the lifeline of the region and support an impressive population of big trees, plants and wildlife. We are located one hour from the Phalabora Gate of the Kruger National Park, between Hoedspruit and Tzaneen in the Limpopo Province of South Africa.
Hoedspruit is a hospitable South African village located on the border of the province of Limpopo, at the foot the Klein Drakensbergen. The village offers a variety of tourist and leisure activities and even has its own Hoedspruit airport. The village provides plenty of modern facilities, such as: a tourist information center, two large grocery stores, gas stations, multiple restaurants and places to go out. It’s located conveniently; Kruger Park is only a 35 minute drive away and a drive to the start of the Panorama Route (Blyde River Canyon) only takes 30 minutes. Hoedspruit is surrounded by game reserves, therefore it’s called the Safari capitol of South Africa. Therefore you will find a lott of things you can do in Hoedspruit.
